People often come to me with a problem: they want me to try and ‘fix’ them.

But what they haven’t been told, is that counselling is not about a professional ‘fixing’ a broken vessel.

It’s about the broken vessel bravely embarking on a journey to discover who they truly are.

I’m Gary, and I practice a person-centred counselling service in Hythe, Folkestone and the surrounding area. I am in awe of people, and have made it my ambition to sit and offer a place where people can come to wrestle, scream, weep, sing and eventually, find the hope and inner strength to stand tall again.

I have found that I am only a few inches taller than when I started my counselling journey, but it has been well worth the hours of training, listening and vulnerability.

I invite you to grow with me, and begin your own journey of self-discovery.

None of us can expect to overcome our difficulties alone. People often choose to come to counselling if they are battling with:

  • Relationship problems
  • Low self-esteem
  • Stress, anxiety and depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Anger management
  • Abuse
  • Panic attacks
  • Mental illness
  • Trauma

What to expect

Taking the first step on the counselling  journey is incredibly brave. GLC will seek to offer you:

  • Professional service
  • Confidentiality and safety
  • Non-judgemental acceptance
  • Empathy
  • Honesty
  • Respect and understanding
  • Unconditional positive regard
  • Practical coping strategies
  • Active listening
